Our Mission

Georgetown Village was established with the goal of helping our members safely and securely age in their own community.  To help accomplish this goal we have created a Georgetown Village Member Bill of Rights that we follow in working with our members.  Be sure to read this over so that you know your rights and the values that we honor when working with our members.
How to Request Services

Members can call the Georgetown Village office at 202-999-8988 to request services and discuss their needs with the Executive Director or our Member/Volunteer coordinator, whether or not these needs are listed in the GV Handbook.  Although we have tried to give you a comprehensive list, it is by no means complete, and if you give us a call, we will try to help you out!
Members may also email the office and request a volunteer service online.  We try to check our email regularly, however, online requests may not be filled as quickly as phone requests.
A sampling of our volunteer services are below.

Indoor & Outdoor Home Assistance

Need a light bulb changed, holiday decorations hung, or leaves raked? These are just a few of the services Georgetown Village offers to our members. We have wonderful volunteers who are happy to assist you with outdoor yard assistance and in-home assistance.

Friendly Phone Calls & Village Buddies

Georgetown Village offers daily friendly phone calls for our members.  Designed primarily for Village members who live alone, this program facilitates a daily phone call to members to inquire if they are all right. Our amazing Volunteers call at pre-arranged times to check on members, and can make recommendations as necessary.

Also, let us know if you are looking to get out and walk with a volunteer or fellow GV member.

Feel free to contact the GV office for more information.

Transportation

Volunteer drivers are available to provide round-trip transportation for members to medical appointments, grocery shopping, to perform errands, etc.  Advance notice is required.  Members and volunteers are to be masked, members should sit in the back on the passenger side, and weather permitting, windows should be opened.

Grocery Shopping & Prescription Pick Up

Our volunteers are available to shop for our members, as well as pick up medication. With a couple of days notice, volunteers are happy to take a member’s shopping list and pick up whatever is available that is on the list.

Quick & Remote IT Assistance

Do you have a question about using your iPhone or Android phone? Do you need to learn how to change the font on your laptop or kindle?  Our volunteers are available to assist members remotely and in person with IT issues such as downloading new apps, streaming online services, Zoom tutorials, printer installation, replacing ink cartridges etc.

DME Loaning Closet & PPE Distribution

Georgetown Village maintains a loaning closet of durable medical equipment to assist with mobility.

Items such as crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, etc. are available for long term loan to our members. We are also happy to lend these items to those living in the community in exchange for a donation to Georgetown Village.

We have small bottles of portable hand sanitizer, cleaner, and masks available for our members and active volunteers.

GV currently has a limited number of in home test kits for our members and active volunteers.
